Renattach รจ un filtro piccolo, efficiente e sorprendentemente efficace, progettato principalmente per offrire un livello aggiuntivo di sicurezza agli utenti Windows i cui messaggi di posta elettronica passano per un server di tipo UNIX. Molti virus moderni si diffondono via posta e renattach contrasta questi virus filtrando gli allegati ai messaggi in base all'estensione del nome. L'idea consiste nel rinominare gli allegati potenzialmente pericolosi (gli eseguibili) in modo tale che l'utente, o il suo software di posta scritto malamente, non li esegua accidentalmente.
