DVI til klartekst-oversætter
CatDVI oversætter en TeX Device Independent-fil (DVI) til en læsbar klartekst oversætter. Den forsøger at oprette et resultat i høj kvalitet, som genskaber alle aspekter af DVI-filen inden for begrænsningerne i mediet. CatDVI bruger Unicode internt og kan lave resultatet i ASCII, ISO Latin 1 og UTF-8 Unicode.
CatDVI kan bruges til forhåndsvisning af TeX-dokumenter på tegn-celle skærme såsom traditionelle terminaler og terminalemulatorer. Det er også muligt at bruge det i oprettelse af klartekst-dokumenter fra TeX-kilde, under antagelse af at dokumentet er skrevet med tanke på denne konvertering.
CatDVI er under udvikling og derfor ikke fuldstændig endnu. Det er dog stadig meget nyttigt i sin nuværende form og er allerede bedre end nogle af sine konkurrenter på nogle områder.
CatDVI kræver at TFM-filerne for alle skrifttyper brugt i dets inddata-DVI-filer er installeret eller kan oprettes af kpathsea.
