AMaViSd-new는 메일 전송 에이전트(MTA)와 여러 바이러스 검사 프로그램 및 스팸어새신(spamassassin) 간의 인터페이스를 제공하는 스크립트입니다.
AMaViSd-new는 모든 일반적인 (20 종류 이상) 바이러스 검사 프로그램을 지원하며, ClamAV, OPenAntiVirus, Trophie, AVG, f-prot, Sophos AV 등과의 직접적인 통신(direct talk-to-daemon) 기능을 지원합니다.
AMaViSd-new는 (postfix와 exim에 가장 알맞는) 일반적인 SMTP/LMTP 필터 모드를 통해 모든 MTA를 지원합니다. AMaVis 파이프 클라이언트를 이용하는 것보다 SMTP/LMTP 필터 모드를 사용하는 것이 더 빠르고 안전합니다. amavisd-new-milter 패키지를 통해 sendmail milter를 지원합니다.
