L'utilità xwrited mostra i messaggi di write(1) e wall(1) come notifiche del desktop. Un demone di notifica conforme con la bozza delle Desktop Notification Specification di freedesktop.org deve essere in esecuzione per mostrare le notifiche.
Questa utilità è utile ad esempio per inviare (forward) messaggi broadcast (wall) a tutti gli utenti da compiti cron o demoni di sistema.
Il demone xwrited viene avviato automaticamente per ogni nuova sessione di X dopo l'installazione di questo pacchetto.
