Con posixovl è possibile montare file system FAT, VFAT, NTFS in modo che si comportino come POSIX. I permessi dei file, i collegamenti simbolici, ecc. sono gestiti in modo trasparente. Un file extra memorizza le informazioni e il file system stesso rimane non modificato. È un equivalente moderno del file system UMSDOS.
Uso tipico: montare un'unità USB FAT32 con posixovl e i file mantengono le loro impostazioni dei permessi.
Questo pacchetto estende mount e fornisce l'opzione "-t posixovl".
