Optimized XML (Ox), come dice il nome stesso, è stato scritto per fornire la gestione ottimizzata in velocità dell'XML. È stato progettato per essere un'alternativa a Nokogiri e ad altri analizzatori XML di Ruby per l'analisi generica dell'XML, e come alternativa a Marshal per la serializzazione di Object.
Ox gestisce i documenti XML in tre modi: è un analizzatore e scrittore di XML generico, un veloce serializzatore di Object / XML, e un analizzatore di flussi SAX. La libreria è implementata in C per la sua velocità ed ha un'API Ruby scarna e semplice.
