mktorrent è un'utilità testuale per creare file con metainformazioni BitTorrent usati dai tracker e dai client torrent. Può creare velocemente file con metainformazioni per file singoli o intere directory.

Gestisce:

 - tracker multipli;
 - incorporazione di commenti personalizzati nei file torrent;
 - hash multi-thread.

Gestisce anche l'impostazione dell'opzione "private" che avvisa gli agenti BitTorrent di non usare meccanismi alternativi di rilevamento dei peer, come DHT (Distributed Hash Table), LPD (Local Peer Discovery) o Peer Exchange.
