fair è un sistema per implementare bilanciatori del carico; è costituito da due demoni: carrousel e transponder. carrousel, che esegue servizi per il bilanciamento del carico, tipicamente gira su un bilanciatore del carico; transponder gira sui server.

fair capisce le topologie di rete nelle quali un nodo è raggiungibile da più di un indirizzo IP; ciò permette la ridondanza non solo dei server, ma anche della rete. Ciò distingue fair da altri bilanciatori del carico.
