Pakkerne RInside gør det nemt at have »R inden i« dit C++-program ved at tilbyde en C++-omslagsklasse, der tilbyder R-fortolkeren.

Da R selv er indlejret i dit program er en delt biblioteksbygning af R krævet. Dette fungerer på Linux, OS X og endda på Windows såfremt du bruger de samme værktøjer brugt til at bygge selve R.

Utallige eksempler tilbydes i de otte undermapper examples/ for den installerede pakke: standard, mpi (for parallel beregning) qt (viser hvordan RInside indlejres i et Qt GUI-program), wt (der viser hvordan et internetprogram bygges via Wt-værktøjssættet), armadillo (for RINside brug med RcppArmadillo) og eigen (for RInside brug med RecppEigen). Eksemplet bruger GNUmakefile(r) med GNU-udvidelser, så en GnU make er krævet (og vil bruge GNUmakefile automatisk).
