„mon“ je nástroj ke sledování dostupnosti služeb. Služby se mohou týkat sítě, podmínek prostředí nebo prostě čehokoliv, co lze softwarově testovat. Když je služba nedostupná, umí to mon sdělit do souboru syslog, e-mailem, na váš pager nebo skriptem, který si zvolíte. Můžete určit, kdo obdrží které hlášení v závislosti na čase a dni v týdnu a můžete určit, jak často se má na existující problém hlášení opakovat.
