mswatch는 두개의 메일박스를 주기적으로 동기화하는 것 보다 더 효과적이고 짧은 지연시간으로 동기화하는 명령행 Unix 프로그램입니다.
mswatch는 메일박스 동기화 시작 시기를 알 수 있도록 메일박스 변경사항을 확인합니다. mswatch를 사용하면 폴링 대신 요청시 메일 동기화 프로그램을 호출할 있기때문에 결과적으로 신속한 메일 전달과 낮은 대여폭 사용, 그리고 낮은 시스템 로드가 가능해집니다.
mswatch는 메일박스 동기화 프로그램과 함께 작동하도록 설계되었으며, 현재 Linux (2.4+)에서 호스트되는 Maildirs (Maildir 폴더, Maildir++ 포함) 감시를 지원합니다. 향후 추가 메일함 형식, 특히 mbox에 대한 지원이 계획되어 있습니다.
이 패키지는 imap 클라이언 호스트에서 사용할 수 있는 mswatch 도구를 제공합니다.
