BYACC/J è un'estensione del generatore di analizzatori Berkeley v. 1.8 compatibile con YACC.
Lo YACC standard prende un file sorgente YACC e genera uno o più file C da esso, i quali, se compilati adeguatamente, produrranno un analizzatore per grammatica LALR. Ciò è utile per la parsificazione delle espressioni, la parsificazione dei comandi interattivi e la lettura dei file. Molti megabyte di codice YACC sono stati scritti nel corso degli anni.
Questo è lo strumento YACC standard che è in uso ogni giorno per produrre analizzatori C/C++.
È stata aggiunta un'opzione "-J" che fa sì che BYACC generi invece codice sorgente Java. Finalmente ora c'è uno YACC per Java!
